Dynamic vs. Static Dates
- Dynamic dates: Relative tags like '3 days ago' or 'In 7 days' that update continuously. Ideal for recurring campaigns such as birthday or post-purchase follow-ups. A static snapshot is taken at campaign launch as a child segment.
- Static dates: Fixed calendar dates for one-time campaigns with a defined eligibility window.
How It Worksβ
- Dynamic (relative) dates evaluate continuously from the current date (e.g. "last 30 days" always means today minus 30). They are ideal for always-on segments or recurring campaign triggers.
- Static (fixed) dates are locked at a specific calendar date. When a campaign using a dynamic audience is sent, a snapshot (child segment) is taken β freezing the member list at that moment.
Configurationβ
Date type is selected per condition in the audience builder. No additional configuration is required β choose "relative" or "fixed" when defining the date field in the condition form.
| Use Case | Date type |
|---|---|
| Birthday campaign (daily trigger) | Dynamic |
| Year-end promotion (fixed eligibility) | Static |
| Post-purchase follow-up (rolling window) | Dynamic |
