Push Notifications for External Apps
Loyal Guru can send push notifications for campaigns, reminders, games, and challenge communications when the Customer has a compatible app integration and push permission.
This page is for retailers that use their own external app instead of the Loyal Guru white-label app.
How it worksβ
Loyal Guru sends push notifications through the configured push provider. The current standard provider is OneSignal.
Integration requirementsβ
| Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| OneSignal app ID | Identifies the app destination used by Loyal Guru push sends. |
| Compatible mobile app SDK | The retailer app must be configured to receive pushes from the expected provider. |
| Push permission | The Customer must allow notifications on the device. |
| Customer identity mapping | The app user must map to the same Customer used by Loyal Guru campaigns. |
| Push-capable Audience | Use channel filters so the campaign targets Customers who can receive push. |
Important limitationsβ
- If the retailer already uses a different push provider, confirm compatibility with Loyal Guru before promising push delivery.
- If the retailer already uses OneSignal for a separate setup, verify whether a second OneSignal app ID can coexist in the same app architecture.
- Push sent counts do not guarantee device delivery. Device permissions, app install state, OS behavior, and provider errors can still prevent delivery.
Configurationβ
Find the push provider configuration in Configuration β Company β Channels. If the user cannot see the channel configuration, check role permissions and Company module enablement.
